      • Marine Drugs (ISSN 1660-3397; CODEN: MDARE6) is the leading open access journal on the research, development, and production of drugs from the sea, including marine natural product chemistry. Marine Drugs is published monthly online by MDPI.

        • Open Access - free for readers, with article processing charges (APC) paid by authors or their institutions.
        • High visibility: indexed by the Science Citation Index Expanded (Web of Science), MEDLINE (PubMed), Embase, Scopus, MarinLit and other databases. Full-text available in PubMed Central.
        • Rapid publication: manuscripts are peer-reviewed and a first decision provided to authors approximately 21 days after submission; acceptance to publication is undertaken in 7.5 days (median values for papers published in this journal in 2017).
        • Recognition of Reviewers: reviewers who provide timely, thorough peer-review reports receive vouchers entitling them to a discount on the APC of their next publication in any MDPI journal, in appreciation of the work done.

Our aim is to publish high impact articles and to serve as an active forum for the discovery of marine drugs or therapeutic marine natural products. The journal publishes reviews, regular research papers, communications and short notes. We would like to publish as much experimental detail as possible, particularly synthetic procedures and characterization information for bioactive compounds. There is, therefore, no restriction on the length of published papers.

        Subject areas include:

        • Isolation, structure elucidation and biological activity of marine natural products
        • Medicinal chemistry of marine natural products
        • Synthesis and mutasynthesis of marine natural products
        • Pharmacology of marine natural products
        • Marine biotechnology, microbiology or biomedical engineering of marine natural products
        • Molecular biology and proteomics of marine natural products
        • Marine glycobiology and glycochemistry
        • Clinical trials of marine natural products
        • Biomedical materials derived from marine natural products
        • Marine drug development
