      • The relationship between IEEE-OES and Brest isn't new, and René Garello, Professor at IMT Atlantique and elected President of IEEE-OES from 2012 to 2016, is at the origin.

Back in 2005, the city hosted an edition of OCEANS in Europe. The first MoU was signed in Bremen (Germany) in 2008 by Jerry Carroll from IEEE-OES and Fabrice Huret from Brest city council. It stipulated the alternance of OCEANS in Europe and Sea Tech Week® from one year to the next.

IEEE-OES was involved in each edition of Sea Tech Week® within the conference and the exhibition. In 2018, the Society provided the Institute Award to Brest métropole for the organisation of Sea Tech Week®.

The new MoU aims at strengthening the ongoing collaboration by:

        • cross-promoting both events,
        • providing a free booth for IEEE-OES and Technopôle Brest-Iroise/Campus mondial de la mer at Sea Tech Week® and OCEANS in Europe respectively,
        • and allowing the members of Technopôle Brest-Iroise as well as the signatories of the Campus mondial de la mer charter to attend OCEANS in Europe, and the IEEE-OES members to attend Sea Tech Week® with the partnership registration rate.
