      • The next edition of Sea Tech Week® 2022 will be organised from 26 to 30 September in Brest Expo on the theme of Maritime transport: towards smarter and greener solutions with India as featured country.

The French General Secretariat for the Sea (SG Mer) just informed us that it will support Sea Tech Week® 2022 granting the event with a patronage, and being present during the event.

Few words on the General Secretariat for the Sea (SG Mer)

The General Secretariat for the Sea (SG Mer), which reports to the French Prime Minister, was created in November 1995. It leads and coordinates the development of government policy in maritime matters, proposes the resulting decisions and ensures the implementation of the policy adopted.

The SGMer is responsible for monitoring, evaluating and forecasting, coordinating the monitoring of texts relating to the sea and proposing the necessary adjustments to take account of changes in international and Community law.

The SGMer is involved in drawing up public policies concerning the sea and coastline and ensures that government decisions are designed and implemented in close consultation with all the professionals concerned, in order to ensure the harmonious development of the various maritime activities.

The SGMer leads and coordinates the action of the maritime prefects and overseas government delegates for the State's action at sea.

Denis ROBIN has been Secretary General for the Sea since 28 January 2019.
