Mr. Hébert will be a distinguished panelist at the high-level session on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, in the early afternoon. This session will focus on environmental issues such as pollution and ocean preservation.
Below is a brief biography of Mr. Hébert:
Is the Head of Unit « Sustainability” at the European Maritime Safety Agency since 2020. He joined the Agency in 2016 as head of Unit “Pollution Response Services”. Before joining EMSA Frédéric had acquired a vast experience in different positions. He started his career in the French navy where in particular he served in the staff of the Préfet Maritime de la Méditerranée, being in charge of coordinating the preparedness for marine pollution. He then joined the legal department of the Ministry of Finances where he led the Unit in charge of international law. In this position he dealt with compensation claims arising from the ERIKA, IEVOLI SUN and PRESTIGE incidents. In 2006 he was appointed Director of the Regional Marine Pollution Emergency Centre for the Mediterranean Sea (REMPEC) by the Secretary General of IMO, a position he has held until 2014.
