Role of the Representation of the European Commission in France

The European Commission's Representations in Paris and Marseille are mandated to :

        • Support the President and the whole Commission in their interaction with France
        • Promote a permanent political dialogue with national, regional and local authorities, parliaments, social partners, other stakeholders, universities and civil society. The Representation prepares and supports visits by members of the College and senior officials of the European Commission and, where appropriate, the European External Action Service
        • Act as the voice of the European Commission in France and communicate on the EU to the press and on social networks, maintaining direct contact with the national, regional and local press by offering them press and media services
        • Engaging with citizens, academia, civil society, social partners and other stakeholders, and organising communication, dialogue and other awarenessraising activities on EU priorities and policies, including in the context of the conference on the future of Europe
        • Provide the President and the European Commission with information, analysis and advice on political, economic and social developments in the country with a view to informing EU policymaking and political communication

The work of the Representations is complemented by Europe Direct centres, which provide information and communication to citizens at regional and local level across the EU.

The Commission has representations in the capitals of the 27 EU Member States, as well as regional offices in Barcelona, Bonn, Marseille, Milan, Munich and Wroclaw. They work closely with the European Parliament Liaison Offices (EPLOs) in the Member States.
